EVER WONDERED WHAT IT’S LIKE TO DO A MAT PILATES CLASS IN A HOT ROOM?

We’re turning up the heat to a toasty 34 degrees in our hot mat pilates room, bringing the feel good tunes and of course dishing out your favourite high intensity, low impact pilates moves to get the blood flowing. 

Aside from feeling nice and toasty as soon as you walk in the room, there are some other pretty amazing benefits to practising pilates in a heated room.

It has long been known that the heat helps to loosen those tight muscles a little faster, allowing you to feel a touch more flexible than you may have at the start of your class. Due to the heat, circulation is increased in the body and blood is flowing to those muscles a little quicker than usual. Oh and that promotion of blood flow is helping to flush out any of those nasty toxins stuck in the body! Think of it as a natural detox.  

If you haven't done pilates in a hot room you might not know that there is definitely an element of concentration required. It is HOT, you’re lunging, you’re squatting and you’re crunching, so of course it’s going to take a degree of mental strength and perseverance to get through it! Don’t let that scare you though, tuning into your body and finding that moment of focus is one of the best benefits practising pilates in a heated room has to offer. Breathing to get through those sticky points actually calms the nervous system, reducing stress levels. Just imagine the endorphins after!

Oh and of course, who doesn't want glowing skin! Remember that detoxification process I mentioned earlier? As well as flushing out toxins, the heat is also removing any impurities, grime and dirt that may have gathered on your skin from daily life. You’ll leave feeling fresh, sweaty, but definitely fresh!
